Photography, for me, has developed into a vehicle for which feelings can be expressed. It has become a way of release. A form of therapy.
When the first roll of film was developed at the age of sixteen, it was the start of a magical relationship. Being able to capture a moment in time, then presenting it for those who chose to see, captivated me.
Over the years, photography has been the source of both joy and accomplishment as well as sadness and anger. It has taught me patience and determination and at times forced me to look deep within, to examine my motives and priorities. It has become a window in which people can look through, to witness my passions, lusts, fears and desires.
I love the means of expression that photography offers. A place where creativity can manifest itself. A place I like to visit often.
Being self taught I have learned through reading, examining others and by trial and error. In doing so I have tried to find a niche, but the more I searched, the more it became obvious that I couldn’t settle down in to one particular style. Diversity is needed to keep the passion alive.
I feel most fulfilled when I can be a messenger of what was already there, yet no one has been able to see it. My process starts within. Ideas are realized, visions take place, then creativity takes over. The magic happens when the shutter is pressed and that vision comes to life.
Photography started as a romance that turned into a love affair. Not unlike emotions, it has been full of ups and downs. A love affair that continues to blossom, direction unknown, with no end in sight.
